FRANCISCAN INSTITUTE OF SPIRITUALITY
(IFS) was established with the
Faculty of Theology in corporation with the Capuchin Franciscan Institute of
Spirituality, and, though it is configured as an Institute of Spirituality in
general, it maintains a strong emphasis on the Franciscan Spiritual tradition,
offering an orientation in Franciscan Spiritual Direction and in training
methods useful for future formators and teachers - both religious and lay.
The Institute offers courses toward a Diploma track with the specialization
in Spirituality as well as a track for License and Doctoral students (STL, STD)
in Theology with a specialization in Spirituality.

DIPLOMA (2 yrs) The Diploma track
with the specialization in Spirituality is open to religious and laypersons
who have obtained an Associate Degree or a who have completed two years of
courses at the University level. It is also open to those who, after
consultation with the Executive Council of the Institute, are willing to
work toward that level. The Diploma foresees two years of study with a
total of 56 credits (89 ECTS).

MASTERS IN FORMATION FOR FORMATORS (1 yr)

In response to the needs of the Franciscan Family for courses directed to
those who will be working in Formation, and heeding the call of the
Magisterium of the Church to the Institutes of Consecrated Life to work
toward a profound renewal of our formational methods, the Institute proposes
a Masters for Formators. Students are admitted to the program who
holds a Bachelor's or a License degree in Theology or Philosophy, a a
Masters in Religious Studies or its equivalent. The Masters is a
one-year program which requires 60 credits of course work and the
presentation of a final thesis.
- LICENSE.(2 yrs) The Faculty of Theology
grants a License Degree (STL) with a specialization in Spirituality on the
condition that the candidate has:
a) passed all exams required by Institute's program b) written two
extended essays through Seminar work
c) developed a Thesis of at least 80 pages, approved by the Faculty Council
, and passed an oral exam on the Thesis before a commission composed of a
Moderator and 2 Readers.

In order to register in the Department, a written test of
the knowledge of Latin is required (translation of a Latin historical text); if
the exam is not passed, a Latin course with its corresponding exercises is
required in the first and second semesters.
If, at the moment of registration, the Academic
preparation of the candidate does not prove sufficient, the Department will
propose a "completing program" to the candidate in Theology, Latin, Secular
history, Geography and Modern languages (Preparatory year).
The student can be registered as an "Ordinary" student in the First Cycle.
Completing this program, and having passed the relative exams, one can be
admitted to the License (Second Cycle).
Doctorate: The program foresees 2 obligatory
fundamental courses, a Seminar and one optional course.

Pope Benedict XV founded the Institute in
1917 to be a center dedicated to advanced studies on Eastern Christianity. The
mission of the Oriental Institute is to study, explain, and make better known
the life and tradition of these churches.
FACULTY OF EASTERN CHURCH SCIENCES
License (2½ years)
Approximately two-thirds of the students at the Oriental
Institute study in the Faculty of Eastern Church Studies. The departments of the
faculty are 1) theology and patristics, 2) liturgy, and 3) history. Having
completed a first degree in theology at another institution, students are
admitted to the program for the licentiate degree (S.E.O.L.). Those who
successfully complete the licentiate may go on to pursue a doctorate (S.E.O.D.).
FACULTY OF EASTERN CANON LAW
License (2½ years)
Roughly a third of the students study in the canon law
faculty, the only Catholic faculty of Eastern Canon Law in the world. A major
focus of work in this faculty is the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches, the
canonical code for all Eastern Catholic churches. Studies also deal with the
historical development of canons, the theology and practice of canon law, as
well as the particular canons of specific churches. As in the other faculty,
students pursue licentiate (I.C.O.L.) and doctorate degrees (I.C.O.D.).

The Academy Alfonsiana, located in Rome, is and
Graduate Institute in Moral Theology, founded by the Redemptorist Community.
Since 1960, the Academy has been a part of the Theology Faculty of the Lateran
University and may grant the degrees of a License and a Doctorate in Moral
Theology.
The Academy, according to the spirit of St. Alphonsus,
Doctor of the Church, Patron of Moral Theologians and Founder of the
Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists), is faithful to the
Magisterium of the Church and has as its mission:
- The study of Moral Theology in the light of the Mystery of Christ and of
scientific research according to contemporary developments and the needs of
the People of God.
- The scientific formation of students (cleric, religious and lay) in the
study of the sources, principles, methods, and application of Moral Theology
and of other related sciences. Such formation is direct and gives
students an advanced level of preparation in the field of teaching, of the
scientific investigation of the truth and in other fields of service in the
Church and Society.

The Institute of the Theology of the Consecrated Life "Claretianum",
founded by the Mussionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Claretians), is
part of the Lateran University as an Institute specializing in the Theology of
the Consecrated Life.
The Institute offers a plan of study on the Consecrated
Life, valid for the granting of a Diploma, and the Masters, License and Doctoral
degrees.
The Institute also offers and Annual course of Ongoing
Formation with the goal of giving consecrated men and women the opportunity of
updating themselves in the study of Scripture, Theology, Spirituality, Ecclesial
Charisms, History, Law and Psychology.

Health Care "Camillianum" is a center for research, for theological formation
and for the pastoral practice in the world of Health Care. The institute
belongs to the Order of the Servants of the Sick (Camillists) who support it and

The "Camillianum" is incorporated in the Pontifical
Faculty of Theology of the "Teresianum" as a program

The Pontifical Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies,
known as the P.I.S.A.I., is a study and research centre which aims to promote
interreligious dialogue with Muslims through a deep knowledge of the Arabic
language and Islamic studies. The Institute was founded by the Missionaries of
Africa (White Fathers) who, in 1926, opened a school for the training of
witnesses to the Gospel working in Arab countries and in Muslim environments.
